The Spiice Route Indian Restaurant: Reviews & Ratings
A must try if you like Indian food. I came for lunch and the portion was huge, and the food was flavorful and clearly authentic (with what I think was whole cardamom seeds and a clove in my dish - this didn't bother me because I know it's normal of authentic Indian cuisine), and the service was great. Lady (one of the owners maybe?) was polite, my food came out fast (I was the only one there at 11:45 on a Wednesday). Just the right amount of spice in my food too. This place just opened 4 ish months ago (so the owner told me). They were on South Craig in Oakland under a different name. I feel lucky I had the time to lunch here before catching my ride to be airport (used to live here and came back for a visit). Highly highly recommend!
Such an amazing gem in Oakland! The owner was incredibly kind and quick bringing out everything we ordered. Highly recommend! If I had to knock down the rating it would be due to the ambiance. I got the first class chicken and my friend got the tikka masala, both of which were great. We unfortunately didn't get a photo of the samosas but they were 10/10!
While I was planning on getting takeout, the waitress was so kind that I took her invitation to sit. She was a great help ordering too. When I ordered I told them I wanted lamb and one of the curries and the waitstaff picked the rest of the dish for me. It was incredible and the medium spice level was perfect too (I’m the lower end of medium) and came super fast.
Had a lovely experience at Spiice Restaurant! Tried their chhole bhature, papdi chaat, and mango lassi — everything hit the spot. The flavors were rich and authentic, and the food was served fresh and hot. As a sweet surprise, we were treated to complimentary mango lassi since it was our first visit — and it was absolutely delicious! Big shoutout to the owner, who was incredibly friendly and welcoming. You can really feel the passion behind the food and the hospitality. Definitely a place worth revisiting if you're craving good Indian street-style flavors.
I’m surprised that this place doesn’t have more reviews! Everybody here is so nice, the food is incredible, and reasonably priced! I don’t typically write reviews, but this place is both all-around amazing and incredibly underrated. Just so I don’t sound like a crazy fangirl with only gushing praise, I’ll add a few negatives. But these are like absolutely minuscule negatives: When ordering curry, the rice that comes with is a bit small compared to the curry portion - next time, I’ll probably order extra rice to go with. And also, there are too *few* customers here! This place deserves sooo many more customers, I felt kinda self-conscious while eating But overall, 11/10, you should definitely eat here!
The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the food was great! The bhature was perfectly soft and paneer heaven had a great charred texture.
I had the best experience in an Indian food restaurant, I ordered a lamb Makhni and it was delicious, the naan bread was also really good, the highest spicy level was very tolerable. The place is new but the mastery with which they prepare the dishes feel that they have been cooking for years
Skeptical at first of what was once the Turkish Kebab House. However the staff were pleasant and the food was uniquely delicious. If you want to eat some good Indian food this is definitely a place to frequent Everything is scratch made. The biryani had a unique wok flavor, generous portions of meats, and a pleasant lack of hazards(whole spices to choke on). The gulab jamon had a pleasant pillowy texture with a very fragrant green cardamom forward syrup. 10/10 would recommend !
